What we do
Our goal is to give young people the tools to re-engineer their future.
We created the What Have I Done for Earth (WHIDE) club to foster the culture of sustainability and peace in the minds of young children
WHIDE is a school club formed as a means of youth learning & engagement about our relationship with the environment. We hope to use it as a tool to get more Nigerian children interested in and knowledgeable about climate education. The school club is also a means of fostering social responsibility in young children from as young as junior secondary school, and then transition into more environmentally-responsible adults. The club also doubles as our monitoring and evaluation arm after each school outreach. We use the sign-up and turnout to gauge how well our message was passed.
Our Building our Ideal Community book teaches young children the concept of peacebuilding in their own words.
This is how we started. We won a grant competition organized by UNESCO-APCEIU and created a learning material titled – “Building our Ideal Community” to teach young children the concept of peacebuilding in their own words. This book has been distributed across various schools all over Nigeria, and has been read by over 100 students.
We organize periodic events where children can listen to and learn from successful people who were once in their shoes, so they can be encouraged
We organize school outreaches to enlighten and listen to young children. These outreaches help to improve their knowledge of the environment, teaching them the importance of peace building and equipping them with the right mental and behavioural tools to foster peace-building and sustainability in their society.
We organize competitions and quizzes for children to engage them and brush up their skills and learning
We organize essay writing and debate competitions among young school children to engage them analytically and help them sharpen their expressive skills. We understand that healthy competition is good for growth and we want to give the children the best mental environment for growth we can give.
